Vocal Coaching & Singing Lessons in Montreal

Learn to sing inside a real Montreal recording studio — every session recorded, so you hear exactly how you sound, track your progress on professional takes, and leave with covers of your favourite songs to share.

The concept

Every other singing lesson in the city happens in a practice room. Yours happens inside a professional recording studio — on the mic, through the console, with the takes rolling. As far as we know, no one else in Montreal teaches it this way.

The difference

You can't fix what you can't hear

In a practice room, the teacher hears you and tells you how it went. Here, you hear yourself — the actual recording, played back the way a listener does. No guessing, no 'I think that one was better.' The take is an honest mirror, and honest feedback is where real, fast improvement starts.

You can't fix what you can't hear

The payoff

Your progress, on the record

Every session leaves you with a real, professional recording. Week by week they stack into a library of your own growth — your first take next to where you are now. And you'll turn the songs you love into finished covers, mixed and mastered, to send to the people who matter.

Your progress, on the record

The fundamentals we build

Breath control

The engine behind every strong, steady note — supported from the diaphragm so you never run out or push.

Pitch

Hearing the note and landing it dead-centre, then holding it under pressure.

Rhythm

Sitting in the pocket and phrasing on time, so your vocal locks to the track.

Tone

Shaping a timbre that sounds like you — warm or bright, without strain.

Harmonies

Finding and holding a part against the melody, for stacks and backing vocals.

A session, start to finish

  1. 01

    You sing it for real

On a professional mic, in a treated room, with the takes rolling — not a practice-room approximation of the real thing.

  2. 02

    You hear the honest take

We play it back the way a listener hears it. No guessing whether that one was better — the recording tells you, plainly.

  3. 03

    We build the skill

Breath, pitch, tone and timing, coached against exactly what the take shows — so you fix what's real, not what you imagine.

  4. 04

Your progress goes on the record

Every session is kept. Week by week, your takes stack into a library of real, professional recordings of your own growth.

  5. 05

    You leave with a song

Turn a song you love into a finished cover — recorded, mixed and mastered — to send to the people who matter.

“He saw potential in me and tried to point me in the right direction… he helped me learn about the workings of social media, methods to have a better tone of voice, and provided me with the best quality songs I could ever imagine. I'm now signed with a label, finishing up an album made entirely at Jake's studio.”

Frequently asked questions

Do I get to keep the recordings?
Yes — every take is yours. Your progress recordings and your finished covers are yours to keep and share, for good.
Is this really different from normal singing lessons?
Completely. Every other lesson happens in a practice room. Here you learn inside a working recording studio, with every session recorded — so you hear exactly how you sound and build real music as you improve.
Do you teach complete beginners?
Yes. You don't need to be a recording artist, or to have ever sung outside your car. We take beginners through breath, pitch and tone at their own pace, in the same room the pros record in.
How much does it cost?
Sessions are priced per hour and depend on what you're after — a one-off warm-up before tracking, or ongoing lessons that build toward a cover. Text or call and we'll give you the rate and the next open date.
Are lessons available in French?
Yes — Fly Away is fully bilingual. You'll be coached in French or English, whichever you're most comfortable in.
Where are you located?
Fly Away is in Saint-Henri, Montreal. Sessions are by appointment, so the room is yours — no clock-watching.
